Tracy P. Hamilton is a theoretical chemist by profession who came to UAB in 1991 and is currently an associate professor at UAB. He is retiring on May 1, 2022. Tracy is currently on the ACS CCA (Committee on Community Activities) which produces the materials for National Chemistry Week and Chemists Celebrate Earth Week. He is also on the Board of Directors of Free the Hops, an organization which strives to make better beer available in Alabama. Tracy gives talks to local sections across the country on the chemistry of coffee, and on the chemistry of beer. His most recent service to ACS was being General co-chair for the 72nd SERMACS.

Larry Krannich is Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was Department Chair for 27 years and facilitated the development of the department through strategic planning initiatives. Since retiring, he has served as Interim Director of the UAB Center for Community OutReach Development, and continues as the Executive Director of the Alabama Academy of Science (AAS).
Larry has been an active ACS member since 1964 and involved in governance at the local section (chair, vice-chair, councilor, & alternate councilor), regional (secretary-treasurer), and national levels (see below). He is an ACS Fellow and an AAS Fellow. In 2009, he received the E. Ann Nalley Southeastern Volunteer Service Award. As a member of the ACS Board of Directors (2010-2013) he was on its Executive Committee and Planning Committee, as well as several Board committees, and chaired the Board’s Professional and Member Relations Committee. He chaired the Leadership Skills Implementation Working Group (2005-2009) that designed the system framework and oversaw the development of the learning assets for the ACS Leadership Development System. He served as co-chair of the Leadership Advisory Board (2009-2019). He facilitates Engaging and Motivating Volunteers, Coaching and Feedback, Engaging Colleagues in Dialogue, Strategic Planning, and Extraordinary Leaders leadership workshops and in-person and virtual Strategic Planning Retreats for the SOCIETY.
For relaxation, Larry enjoys outdoor activities that have taken him on hiking, camping, and cycling adventure trips throughout the US and elsewhere in the world.
